Details are still being ironed out so please check back often for the latest news.
Chapter 4's Contest is now OPEN - Chapters now available under Pages - The Jellybane
Why?
After considering the
possibility of creating a contest for the cover art of 'The
Jellybane' Rewrite, I decided it might be a good idea to create some
smaller contests leading up to it. Hopefully by the time the Cover Art contest is held, I'll have a few artists interested in Participating in it. These smaller contests will be for
'chapter art' which I'd like to have displayed on the first page introducing
each chapter.
Example of what Chapter Art may look like in the book:
Art by Connie Walker (ryoki18@yahoo.com)
The chapter art will be confined to drawings and
sketches in black and white with no color. This is so printed versions of the finished book will be a bit cheaper. Colored images in novels can get expensive! And that is not to say I wouldn't absolutely love to receive colored fan art, which I will totally show off at every opportunity, I just can't put it in the final novel.
Contests will be held
after each chapter of my book is completed and edited. Once announced, the fresh
chapter will be made available to participants via this very blog via 'The Jellybane' link under Pages. You may now also follow the 'Chapters' link at the bottom of this page.
Who can participate?
Everyone is most welcome to submit entries! I'm opening the contests to
all styles and skill levels with the hope of receiving a variety of different
images from as many artists as possible.
Prize?
Each 'Chapter Art Contest' winner will receive the princely reward of $30 via PayPal and, if everything goes well, their entries will
be in the next edition of 'The Jellybane' when published so
all readers can see your awesome work!
2nd and 3rd place tiers have been added to the contests, rewarding $15 and $5 respectively.

Rules?
1. Participants must read the contest
chapter and come up with an image based on it. Entries do not need to be word for word recreations of scenes, but should be identifiable as a scene from the particular chapter the contest is for. This means submitions based on events from chapter 1 will not be selected to win in chapter 4's contest. It'd like images to really represent the individual chapters.
2. Submissions must be emailed to me at
'kjbaileyad@gmail.com' by
the end of the contest period to be considered. They must also include your name, or alias, which will be in print in the book if you win, and in videos displaying your entry. This way proper credit can be given.
3. This series and its contests are primarily for younger readers, thus any submissions deemed inappropriate for this demographic will be removed from the contest.
Things to remember:
Chapter art will be displayed
primarily on the first page introducing each chapter in a novel, so
please keep dimensions in mind. Large, complex images with high levels of
detail will likely come out poorly since the image in the book will
be somewhere around three to four inches in width and height.
Also, if you sign your work, please do so modestly (either integrated into the image or very near, so it isn't cut out) as not to distract from the immersion of the novel. If your work is selected for the novel, rest assured, credit will be given in print within the book.
Another note is that submissions, particularly those of the winners, may be cropped or otherwise modified to fit the needs of the novel, so please do not be surprised if that occurs.

Everyone, participants and friends!
Feel encouraged to spread the word.
Share with friends and family so they can see your work and participate as well.
If these go well, I'd also like to
host a contest for the book's cover art which will have a significantly greater prize for the winner.
